My August 2015 Report
As I am typing this post in September I am really finding it hard to separate the months at the moment. So much has happened in the first 10 days of September which makes August look somewhat boring.
Let me tell you it was anything but boring!
My mum was visiting from Europe for 5 weeks and Sydney has always been one of her dream destinations. She always wanted to see the Sydney Opera House and so we packed the family and spent 5 days in Sydney.
WHAT’S GOING ON
After an amazing launch in July the popularity of my podcast just kept on going up together with downloads.
I have repositioned my podcast a little and switched from ‘Health’ category to ‘Education’. I think education is more suited to majority of content you hear on my podcast but overall I don’t think it changed anything drastically.
I have continued to score top spots in each category probably only missing out on the banner position for 4 days in total. Towards the end of the month I started to appear in the home page New & Noteworthy banner which was just incredible to see.
BEST RECORDED POSITIONS:
No.1 Kids & Family category
No.1 Career category which is under the Business
No.3 Education category
No.4 Business category
MY LOVE FOR TWITTER
I made the decision to only focus on 2 social media platforms: Facebook (FB) and Twitter. I am present on Pinterest, Google+ and LinkedIn just not on daily bases.
Facebook provided some challenges recently with reach and as much as I like Facebook I have found the growth of my page to be slow. My personal FB page Petra Jones is more visible and so I am more engaged there.
Twitter surprised me! I am what you would call a Twitter virgin. Never really felt the love for Twitter until now.
I LOVE IT! IT IS WORKING FOR ME!
I will be posting more detailed post soon where I will share what I’ve done to grow my following from 40 followers to over 800 in 60 days. I know, it’s not a massive jump but those followers are highly targeted and I had no experience on Twitter.
OVERCOMING MY FEAR OF BEING VISIBLE
In August I decided to ditch my fear of being visible and I nominated The Mumpreneur Show podcast in the upcoming AusMumpreneur awards in two categories. The Influencer and Digital Innovation. I was announced as a finalist in Digital Innovation category. Later I learned there were over 1,ooo nominations received for 13 different categories with 10 finalists in each category. So I felt truly honoured to be amongst all that made it to the finals.
As I mentioned in my last month post, I found myself lacking time in July which continued at the start of August as well. I have finished listening to the audible book – The Miracle Mornings by Hal Elrod and I’ve decided to test Hal’s approach of getting up early each day in my life. I have failed …. wait, not completely. I have failed to get up every morning. It was too hard for my life consisting of a midnight bed crawler [my son] and nightmares screamer [my daughter]. I just simply could’t do it every morning but I found two mornings each week, Monday and Friday, where I do get up at 5am and s*** gets done! So, overall, it is huge win as it enriched my life and time restrictions I sometimes have, as a work from home mum.
BOOKS I READ IN AUGUST
I am still reading The ONE Thing by Gary Keller – I don’t seem to be able to read it for too long. I found I need time to digest each chapter. Don’t get me wrong – it’s brilliant!
Content Machine by Dan Norris – I am enjoying this book. I’ve become really interested in content marketing and Dan’s book is full of information. One thing I would love is perhaps more in depth explanations in a few sections, but this book has a lot of links and also work sheets available. I like that.

I am more focused on Twitter as I see it is working for me and I have an engaged audience. I am also noticing more interactions from my podcast followers. I am contemplating my next self development education.
